The theme for Together Time 2001 was "FOLLOW THE LEADER".  120 Children aged 4 - 10 years and 40+ teen counselors gathered under the big tent for opening and closing ceremonies each day. We opened on Monday, July 9 with a TREASURE HUNT.  All children followed SIGNS OF GOD using a map navigated by their counselors.  We "dug" for many treasures, most especially the Word of God in bible verses.  We opened and closed daily with prayer, directions and songs under the tent.  All lifted up their hands in prayer and praise, joyfully singing "We Want to See Jesus Lifted High".  Small groups paraded to the TENT  on Friday to share presentations specially prepared for the enjoyment of everyone for this day of celebration.  Deacon John and Pastor, Fr. Keaveney led the group in prayer at various times during the week.

The counselors of each small group planned the crafts, stories and activities of each day for their groups.  Counselors must be entering the 7th grade.  We have many returning counselors as well as those with no experience, ranging from those entering 7th grade through 12th grade.  They had been planning since May, attending workshops and planning meetings.  The crafts and activities under the tent were shared and participated in by all alike.  This year, for the first time, we had a 10 year old group.  The usual age for participants is 4 - 9; however, there was enough interest from the 10 year old contingent (who are not yet old enough to be counselors, but not much younger than some of the counselors) to elicit the generous offer from a "young" mom to lead a special group with the assistance of an often requested alumni counselor. We hope these will be some of our future counselors. All children were given a prayer journal.  We hope that they will continue to use them as a tool in many ways: to assist in being mindful of the thanksgiving we should do to God each day (for all the wonderful gifts and treasures He continually gives to us)...as a diary of their steps taken (Sometimes baby and sometimes giant) to FOLLOW THE LEADER... a treasury for recording good deeds, favorite bible verses, prayers, poems, etc.  We thank all involved who worked so hard to make this week a success.  What to some may seem to be merely "controlled chaos" was truly a joy-filled and spirit-led week for the children, counselors, adult volunteers, and the directors as well.
